Why build a treehouse?
A treehouse is a structure that holds the magic and beauty of Nature and provides the space for our souls to soak in peace.
Being in the trees allows us to connect with the natural world, an experience often missing in our modern lives.
A treehouse is a safe-house from the distractions of our busy human activities.
A treehouse provides space for us to unwind, let go and allow our imaginations to play. These beautiful structures give us the opportunity to quiet down enough to hear the voice of the natural world.
Forests are the ultimate communities. They remind us that our well-being is interdependent with other human and non-human beings and our environment. A treehouse can humble our “grandness,” allowing us to slow down and develop good relations with each other and everything around us.
Most importantly, forests, trees and treehouses are lots of fun! That's why we love building treehouses (and why you'll love having one).

Bridging the Gap: the Work of World Treehouses' lead designer, Michael Stam Our lead designer, Micheal Stam, works on the custom-designed suspension bridge for our recently completed downtown Asheville treehouse. Our lead designer, Michael Stam, designed a custom suspension bridge for our recent downtown Asheville tree house: Says World Treehouses owner, Adam Laufer, “One of the many obstacles involved in building in a treehouse is figuring out how to get up there! For this project, the challenge was to connect the existing deck to the new treehouse. We had discussed this step early on in the project and realized a bridge was the best option. I had full confidence in our lead designer, Michael Stam. He created a beautiful and graceful solution that not only worked, but it also passed our engineers’ scrutiny and the City of Asheville’s building code. Great job, Michael!” View more photos of this downtown Asheville treehouse. We’ll be posting many more photos in the upcoming weeks. Proud owners Maggie (left) and Rachel (right) enjoy hanging out in their new tree house! Says Rachel, owner of the new treehouse we built for her in downtown Asheville NC: “As a city girl, I did not grow up with an appreciation for trees. In Chicago, trees felt like an afterthought in a city built of concrete and steel. But now that I live in Asheville, trees have become a deep source of joy in my life. I am continually transfixed by their magnificence—the almost otherworldly wisdom they seem to hold. And so when my friend’s seven-year-old son suggested that I build a tree house, I knew it was a natural progression in my adoration of nature and sacred spaces. This tree house has grown into something more amazing than I could have imagined. It is a floating work of art, thanks to the vision and talent of the team that created it (a heartfelt thank you to World Treehouses, Adam Laufer, Michael Stam, and Renn Mahr). Inside, it truly feels like a magical space of sweet solace. I hope this […]
